Barbershoppers de todo el globo han unido sus fuerzas en Madrir el fin de semana del 26 de Febrero para celebrar la segunda convención “En Armonía” en España. SABS ha estado orgullosa de dar la bienvenida a la élite del Barbershop singing del mundo desde América, Australia, Holanda y UK incluyendo a los campeones OC Times de California, USA.

Barbershoppers from all over the globe joined forces in Madrid last weekend to celebrate the second “En Armonía” convention in Spain. SABS was delighted to welcome the elite of the barbershop singing world from America, Australia, Holland, and the UK including men’s gold medal champions, OC Times, from California, USA.

Madrid ha acogido el evento y más de 220 miembros han disfrutado un fin de semana de coaching y entretenimiento, con 2 shows en el auditorio Alfredo Kraus y Galileo Galilei , para dar a conocer este arte de los cantos a capella al público Español. “Empezamos sólamente con 4 miembros”, dijo nuestro presidente, Nico de las Peñas, “y ahora tenemos 220 miembros y seguimos creciendo. Nuestra misión es atraer a más gente de la península ibérica a disfrutar el Barbershop singing

Madrid hosted the event and more than 220 members enjoyed a weekend of coaching and entertaining, including two shows at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus and the Galileo Galilei, to bring this unique art of a-cappella singing to even more members of the Spanish public. “We started with just four members” says SABS President, Nico de las Peñas Plana. “And now we have around 220 members and are continuing to grow. We were delighted to welcome new choruses from as far afield as Barcelona, Fuengirola and the Algarve in Portugal. Our mission is to encourage more people on the Iberian Peninsula to learn and enjoy the art of barbershop singing and we are achieving that”.

El fin de semana culminá con un concurso de cuartetos, con cuartetos de hombres y mujeres de toda España. Investigators de Madrid ganaron la medalla de oro, Hanfris de Barcelona la de Plata, y Four Tune Tellers de Madrid la de Bronce.

The weekend culminated in a quartet contest, featuring ten men’s and women’s quartets from all over Spain. Madrid’s ‘Investigators’ won the Gold Medal, ‘Hanfris’ from Barcelona won Silver and ‘Four Tune Tellers’ from Madrid became bronze medallists. Quartets from the Levante region also entered and ‘4midables’ from Torrevieja was placed 4th, followed by ‘Mixed Blessings’ of Torrevieja in 5th place,’˜Each Way Bet’ from Torrevieja in 6th place, ‘Viva’ from Los Alcázares in 7th, with’˜Allegro’, ‘Los Barberos’ and ‘Fénix’ coming a close 8th, 9th and 10th.

Investigators clinch Gold!

“The whole weekend has been fantastic. We achieved our aim of broadcasting the barbershop ethos even wider and we are all still on a high” commented SABS Marketing Manager, Lyn Baines. “eeing so many people get so much pleasure from singing together gives us great satisfaction, especially as we have attracted some really talented, young, up-and-coming groups and we’d like to encourage more young people to join. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to En Armonía 2011 in Murcia”.
